A book discussion programme was hosted by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Mysore, in association with UGC UPE (University’s for Potential of Excellence), on Thursday.
Alumni of the department and bureau chief of Indian Express K Shivakumar inaugurated the multi media lab and addressed the students.
“Journalism field is not a cake walk. You need to face many obstacles in this field. To be a successful journalist, one should create a better framework for himself. Today, journalists are suffering due to the conflicts between globalisation and marketing. Maintaining balance between these two is very important,” he said.
Alumni of the department Ravi Pandavapura and Alfred Solomon working at Suvarna Nnews and Andolana respectively were felicitated on the occasion.
This was followed by an interaction session with author of ‘Swargakke Moore Maili’ Sugata Srinivas, chief editor of Kannada Prabha.
Chairman of Department of Communication and Journalism Prof C K Puttaswamy, Prof Usharani Rao, Prof Mahesh Chandra Guru, teaching and non-teaching faculty and students were present.
