Boy mauled to death by a Leopard in UP

Prime News, Nation, Bahraich, July 22:- A seven-year old boy was dragged and mauled to death by a Leopard near Mukeriay village under Ramgaon police station in the district here.

Police said that the boy Sanjay was sleeping outside his house when the big cat dragged him away and killed. The family members told the police the boy was missing since morning.

Recently human-animal conflict substantially increases due to shrinking forest area cover and afforest ration resulted in animals having ventured into human habitat in search of food and killing people.

In some instances angry people have killed wild animals in a fit of rage for having cause the death of their kin.

The police said that the dead body of boy was recovered from a forest area behind a primary school located in the village.

Forest Range Officer Rustom Pervez said the pugmarks found in the area confirmed it to be a leopard attack adding that the initial compensation was paid to the family members of the seven-year-old boy’s body sent for a post-mortem.
