Karnataka’s annual Budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramiah, who holds finance portfolio, lacks broader vision for the development of the state. Instead, the budget reflects his priority that only certain segments are more important to him than the state as a whole. It is evident the Chief Minister is more interested in his vote bank. For the development of government colleges, the budget provides Rs 10 crore and taking into consideration the total number of colleges in the state, it is not sufficient even to buy stationery items for these colleges. It is a mockery and reflects the mindset of our politicians in improving education. Added to this, tourism sector, which can attract millions of tourists every year, lacks basic facilities in majority of the places, receives a meagre allocation. Unless the government involves private players, tourism cannot be improved. Overall, Karnataka budget is lackluster, narrow-minded and aimless!
