BJP candidate from Gundlupet Assembly constituency, C S Niranjan Kumar filed his nomination papers on Monday. He was accompanied by BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, MP Pratap Simha, and former ministers Sriramulu and Aravind Limbavali.
The party also held a road show on the occasion. Yeddurappa said ‘BJP wave which is prevailing in the country, will continue in Gundlupet and Nanjangud too.’
Meanwhile, BJP workers staged a protest in front of the police station, here, condemning the caning of party workers by police.
The activists also accused the policemen of acting as agents of the government and using force against the innocent party workers.
Meanwhile, excise officials in Chamarajanagar registered cases of poll code violations in the wake of Gundlupet by-poll on Monday, and have seized illegal liquor bottles. A portrait of the minister, late H S Mahadev Prasad has been removed from the office of a village forum.
