Prime News, National, Karnataka, Politics, Mysuru, August 16:- Talking ill of departed leaders is not in good taste, opined the Bharatiya Janata Party MLC A H Vishwanath here on Monday (August 16).
Talking to reporters, he said “Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru also fought for our freedom. He was jailed many times. BJP national general secretary C T Ravi’s statement against him is not right.”
He said, “When Nehru died, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had praised his contributions to the country. Ravi should read Vajpayee’s speech to know about Nehru. Ravi’s ‘childish speech’ is condemnable and I think he is doing it for the sake of publicity. I advise him to withdraw his statement.”
Hitting out at former minister and Congress leader Priyank Kharge for his statement against Vajpayee, Vishwanath said, “He has no moral right to talk about a senior like him. Why senior leaders like Siddaramaiah, H D Kumaraswamy and Mallikarjuna Kharge are not issuing any statements? Such loose statements should be condemned then and there.”
On disenchantment regarding state Cabinet berths, the MLC said, “No position is bigger than the other. We should accept the Cabinet berths given to us with both hands and do our job properly.”
On BJP’s proposed move to rename Indira Canteen, he said, “Their attitude is cheap. There are many schemes in Vajpayee’s name as well. (MR/KS)
