Canada-based Indian doctor’s noble gesture

Dr HB Chandrasekhar, a Gastroenterologist, donates oxygen concentrators and BPAP machines to two govt hospitals in Karnataka

Prime News, International, National, Karnataka, Health, Disease, Oxygen, Mysuru, June 4:- Dr H.B Chandrasekhar, a Gastroenterologist by profession at St Johns, Canada, has donated oxygen concentrators and BPAP machines to the Government District Hospitals in Karnataka. Eight oxygen concentrators and two BPAP machines to Sagara Hospital and 8 oxygen concentrators and two BPAP machines to Shikaripura Hospital. The generous donation in the form of medical supplies was handed over to the DHO of the respective District Hospitals in Sagara and Shikaripura. The aid came at a time when the hospital was witnessing a surge in the number of patients due to the second wave of the virus.

The contribution was made in memory of D H Basavaniahappa, father of Dr H.B Chandrasekhar. The aid reached the District Hospital of Sagara on on May 30 and Shikaripura on Tuesday (June 1). The authorities and DHO of the hospital expressed gratitude to Dr Chandrasekhar for his generosity to help people during these unprecedented times.

Dr Chandrasekhar was born and brought up in Sagara, Shivamogga district and later on completed his MD from Mysore Medical College (MMC). His daughter Dr. Vidya Ranga is a Paediatrician at Mysuru-based Vatsalya Sitaranga Hospital.

Mallikarjun of N Ranga Rao & Sons coordinated the entire initiative on behalf of Dr Chandrasekhar. Locally, right from sourcing the equipment and delivering them at Sagara and Shakaripura. Dr Chandrasekhar wanted to help as many people as he could during these challenging times and hence, went ahead with this initiative to give back to the community he grew up in. (MR)
