Career aspiration session for students hold by CII-Indian Women Network, GSSSIETW

A session on ‘Career aspira­tions — Choosing a new path’ was held in the City for over 400 final engineering students under the join auspices of CII­Indian Women Network and GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru.

Dr Githa Hegde, vice chairperson, IWN Karnataka and senior associate dean, marketing, Welingkar Insti­tute of Management Devel­opment and Research, called upon the students to be fo­cused to build a career. “Job and career are two different aspects and each one of us should know that job is short term and career is long term plan for success.” Talking on skill development, Dr Githa Hegde emphasised that de­veloping skills is critical to be successful in a career.

Dr Vasanthi Reena Williams, HoD, Vidya Vikas PG Depart­ment of Commerce, Mysuru, emphasised that the key to a successful career is self-confi­dence and also one must work towards perfection.

CII Mysuru, chairman Dr N Muthukumar, in his address suggested that the prime fac­tors for a successful career is to stay focused, be innova­tive and to respect others. He outlined the three important factors for success in career; being customer focused, in­novative and respectful to counterparts. “In order to ex­plore new things you have to be innovative to face the competition in the society,” said Dr Muthukumar.
