Central team to visit Mysuru district to analyse  drought

A three-member team will be touring the district on November 3 and 4 to analyse the crop loss and the drinking water scarcity in the district.

S M Kolhatkar, Director, Oilseeds, Hyderabad, Sathish Kumar Kamboj, Senior Joint Commissioner, Water Resources, and Neeta Tahiliani, Under Secretary, Rural Development, will arrive on Thursday and hold a meeting with senior officials of the district. Then the team will go on a field visit to know the plight of the farmers in the district.

D Randeep, Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, will explain the crop losses and drinking water scarcity across the district through a power point presentation.

The district administration will take the central team to HD Kote, Hunsur, Periyapattana, and Mysuru taluks. The team will leave for Hassan district on November 4.

Shivashankar, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat said that villages in Jaipura hobli of Mysuru taluk, Bilikere hobli in Hunsur taluk, and Hampapura hobli in HD Kote taluk were facing drinking water problems. More than eight villages were being provided water through tankers. The team will be taken to these areas to provide them with the first hand information of the drought.
