Chain snatchers strike again in city, gold strand worth rs 60,000 snatched from woman

In an early morning incident of chain snatching reported in the city, a woman was robbed off her gold chain worth Rs 60,000 by unidentified bike-borne youth on Tuesday.

The victim Mahadevamma, a resident of Tilaknagar 6th cross street and a pani puri vendor by profession, was drawing rangoli in front of her house when the incident happened.

Two bike-borne youth who are yet to be identified, snatched away a strand from Mahadevamma’s 70 gms mangalsutra which comprise 21 gms. The remaining 49 gms of mangalsutra is safe with Mahadevamma as she held it tight when the thieves tried to snatch it from her.

A case has been registered at the Mandi Mohalla Police station. A PCR and Garuda were pressed into service to apprehend the culprits.
