The Chamundeshwari temple presumed to be built 3 years back in Saraswathipuram – Kuvempunagar junction, was demolished by MUDA  and  the Corporation  on Monday in the wee hours of  around 5:00 am. This was done as per the orders of the Supreme court which says that no buildings or temples are to be built in the public places. Prior to this, a notice was sent to the Seve Abhivrudhi Sangha , who are monitoring the temple activities, but they gave a deaf ear to the notice and did not shift the temple which  resulted in the demolition of the temple with the police protection.

Public learnt about the demolition around 6 in the morning and around 300 people protested by forming a human chain. Jai Bhim Kshetrabhivrudhi Sangha and the Kukkarahalli residents took part in the protest and Vishvamanava Double Road Junction was blocked for an hour prohibiting the movement of vehicles. Saraswathipuram police station inspector Poovaiah convinced the protestors to go legal in this matter. But the protesters are demanding MLA and MP to visit the spot and do justice.
