Narendra Modi’s new historic reform of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes has been lauded all over. But a few problems which have arisen as ‘part and parcel’ of the reform seem to have affected the day to day transactions of a common man.
The world famous Mysuru zoo too had to face the heat as most of the visitors showed up with Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes which led to shortage of ‘change’, and eventually the zoo had to be shut down for the day. The zoo authorities held a meeting with the District Commissioner and banks, and finally, decided to declare a holiday for the zoo.
Around 100 visitors who had entered the zoo were asked to leave. Chairman of the Zoo Authority of Karnataka, Mallige Veeresh spoke to Forest Minister Ramanatha Rai and directed the officials to reopen the zoo.
