Child trafficking: Mandi police to take up probe

The district police have transferred the child trafficking case, which was busted in November 2016, to Mandi police under Mysuru Police Commissionerate, for further investigation.

The case has been handed over to Mandi police as the illegal racket was being operated from Naseema Medical Centre, which comes under Mandi police jurisdiction.

The district police had busted the racket in Nanjangud in November. Till now, the police have rescued 18 children.

However, the police suspect that a child, a victim of trafficking, is in a foreign country. So far, the police have arrested 11 people, including owner of a medical centre, Usha and her husband Francis.
