Mysuru, May 29:- “The children of daily wage labourers need not be daily wagers. Organisations should try to make them develop educationally, politically and economically,” said corporator B M Nataraj.
He was addressing the Labourers Day programme organised by the Bharat Mata Construction Workers’ Association at N R Mohalla Circle in the city on Sunday.
“They work hard from keeping the city clean to keeping the homes clean. Their children need not be the labourers. By giving them education, they can reach the pinnacle in life. There are many schemes introduced by the state and central governments for the welfare of labourers. They should utilise the schemes to enhance their quality of life and be united,” he added.
Free bags and notebooks were distributed to the school children.
Deputy Mayor Rathna Laxman, corporators Sandesh Swamy, R Puttalingu, G Siddaraju, M Ramakrishna, Paramesh, Suresh and others were present.
