Mysuru, December 19:- “If Christian Development Parishat is reconstituted into Christian Development Board, it will help develop the community more,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza.
He was speaking to media persons on his visit to the city on Tuesday.
“There might be many who go abroad for education. But the government has formed a committee led by me to study whether the poor or getting the funds to construct houses and students are getting scholarships. We are bringing the problems to the notice of the state government and trying to solve these issues. Many are urging to reconstitute the parishat into a development board as the parishat has no power to take decisions and spend funds from Minorities’ Development Board and Welfare Department. The community should get reserved 12 constituencies to contest in the Assembly polls. We have already requested Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Ramesh Kumar to provide funds according to the population of the community in the budget,” he said.
Speaking about the Gujarat elections, D’Souza said, “Congress party has won the Gujarat elections. Party cadre are spirited by the result. We will win the Lok Sabha elections under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. People have supported the Siddaramaiah-led state government in Karnataka,” he added.
Replying to a query, the MLC said the state government is firm in dealing with the law and order situation and added that the BJP is attempting to create unrest in the state and dreaming of gaining power.”
