Mysore’s upcoming tennis players Jasha M and Mustafa M Raja have both excelled in the AITA U-12 TS7 Tennis Tournament held at Tennis Temple Academy at Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, recently.
Jasha won both the singles and doubles title, while Mustafa reached the round of 16 (pre quarters).
Twelve-year-old Jasha was the second seeded player in the girls’ category and displayed fine form throughout the tournament. She won five singles matches to clinch the title. In the finals, jasha defeated Khushi Vishwanath 6-3, 6-2. Jasha partnered with Tishya Khandelwal in the doubles to defeat Khushi and Thanisha 6-3, 6-4.
Nine-year-old Mustafa playing in his first AITA U-12 boys’ tournament won three qualifying rounds to reach the main draw of 32. He won the first round in the main draw to reach the pre-quarters where he went down fighting in three sets in a match that lasted 3 hours. Arjun Premkumar defeated Mustafa 5-7, 6-0, 6-1. Mustafa was one of the youngest participants in the event. Earlier, this year Mustafa won the AITA U-10 nationals held in Mysuru.
Both Jasha and Mustafa train at the Nagaraja Tennis Centre, SJCE College campus and do their fitness training at VO2 Max Fitness Studio, Vijayanagar. Jasha studies at JSS Public School, while Mustafa studies at Excel Public School.
