Cloudy weather is expected to continue for at least three to four days and the city will receive moderate to heavy rainfall, say researchers from Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa at the Organic Farm Research Centre of University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) at Naganahalli.
The day temperature that ranged from 30 to 34 degrees Celsius is expected to come down to 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.
A press release from the research centre said: “Heavy rainfall may be expected from May 18 to 20 in Mysuru district. The day temperature is expected to be 28 to 29 degrees and night temperature is expected to be 20 to 21 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning hours is expected to be 93-97 per cent & afternoon relative humidity is expected to be in the range 77 to 89 per cent. Wind speed expected to be 3-4 km/ hour.”
The district is expected to receive 34 mm rainfall on May 18, 26 mm rainfall on May 19 and 19 mm rainfall on May 20. The researchers have also predicted 54 mm rainfall in Kodagu district.
According to the research station, cyclonic depression off the Tamil Nadu sea coast is bringing rain to Mysuru, Kodagu and coastal Karnataka. If the wind speed is high it is bound to rain in these areas, it said.
Weather reports from Indian Met Department in Bengaluru too predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in Mysuru, interior areas of Kodagu and coastal districts. “Severe depression in the Bay of Bengal, Mannar Island and northern Sri Lanka will cause the rainfall,” the department has said.
