Civil Aviation Ministry gives nod to expand Mysuru Airport runway

Mysuru, May 16:- The demand for the expansion of Mandakalli Airport runway on finally received the green signal from the Ministry of Civil Aviation which would facilitate jet plane landing and assure more frequency of flights to Mysuru.

Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha on Wednesday on his twitter handle confirmed that the Civil Aviation Ministry has approved the expansion of Mysuru Airport runway. “WoW! Finally got the approval for the expansion of Mysuru Airport Runway! Thank u @jayantsinha ji,” he tweeted.

The demand for the expansion of Mysuru Airport runway is a long pending one. If the runway is expended, the Mysuru Airport can facilitate landing of jet plane and bigger aircraft like Boeing which would make possible to introduce at least five flights to Mysuru.

In the month of March, Pratap Simha along with BJP leader and MP Prahlad Joshi met Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha in New Delhi seeking approval for the expansion of Mandakalli Airport.

Last month, the Bureau of Civil Aviation – Security had given a report of the expert committee to the Director Security, Airport Authority of India (AAI) giving security clearance of underpass below proposed extension of active runway.
