Cleanliness drive to uphold ‘Clean Mysore’ tag

Swachatha Abhiyan II has already begun to reap fruits. Some residents not only have begun to keep their surroundings clean but have begun to maintain a garden too.

Swachatha Abhiyan II was carried out for the month of June by SBM Colony, Sreeramapura. The Mysore Bank Colony Residents Cultural & Welfare Association organised the programme.

A team of 50 residents sporting gloves, masks and placards cleaned the area from block number 7-12. The residents, as a part of the cleanliness drive also educated co-habitants from dumping garbage at street corners. The poura karmikas helped the residents in their mission by removing the garbage collected.

This initiative which is aimed at being carried out every month has already begun to reap fruits. Some residents not only have begun to keep their surroundings clean but have begun to maintain a garden too in some areas.

The secretary of the association K V Ramanath, who initiated the drive, said that Swachatha Abhiyan will become a routine exercise to be held on 2nd Sunday of every month. The drive will be participated in by all the residents of SBM Colony. He stated that the it was intended to keep the ‘Clean Mysore’ tag remain with Mysore forever.
Basavanna, Vice President and office bearers Chandrasekhara Udupa, Arunkumar Shettar, Ganeshamurthy, HS Prakash, and other members were present during the cleanliness drive.
