Close private hospitals looting money, demand ZP members

Mysuru, January 7:- The general body meeting of zilla panchayat which was scheduled at 11 am on Saturday was postponed to 12 pm due to lack of quorum.

Tributes were paid to Rebel star Ambareesh, Jaffer Sharief, 17 people who died in Sulwadi temple tragedy before the commencement of the meeting. A verbal spat took place between JD(S) and Congress members over not holding the meetings of the district planning committee.

Zilla panchayat member Venkataswamy said that the private hospitals are looting the people and CEO of zilla panchayat and district health officers are not investigating. An argument took place between Beerihundi Basavanna and Ravishankar on the issue.

Members expressed their anger over Sigma Hospital in the city which has given a bill of Rs 15 lakh to the family of the patient though he died during a piles operation. Venkataswamy and Basavanna urged the concerned authorities to take action against the hospital. District health officer Dr Basavaraj said that a report will be submitted to the government after discussing at KPME.
