“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must hold a meeting with Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitaa before expecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene to solve the cauvery dispute,” said MP Pratap Simha. He was addressing media persons at a press meet held on Wednesday in the city.
Simha said: “Siddaramaiah must immediately take a decision and announce that the state government can’t release any more water to Tamil Nadu and oppose the Supreme Court verdict. The decision taken for the welfare of people or state won’t stand as contempt of court. Irrespective of our political leanings, we are extending our support to the Chief Minister to take any decision regarding welfare of the state and people over the Cauvery issue.”
“Chief Minister must immediately call for a meeting with Jayalalithaa. If she refuse to attend the meeting, Modi can intervene to take appropriate decision,” he added.
When asked about resigning against the Cauvery verdict, he said: “Nothing can be solved by resignation. I can work for the public only if I am in power. If public demands, I am ready to resign at this moment itself.”
