Mysuru, September 13:- “Mysuru Dasara should be the festival of common public and not the festival of officials and politicians,” said District in-charge Minister V Somanna.
He was speaking at a meeting of district officials at Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Hall here on Thursday.
“Official should be considerate with the public and visitors who come from far-off places to watch the events. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will light the Dasara sports torch at 10:21 am on September 29. The torch will be taken to all the taluks of the district and arrive in Mysuru on October 1. Taluk-level sports meet has already begun. District-level sports meet will begin on September 14,” he said.
“Raitha Dasara will be held from October 1 to 3. The fish fair will also be part of it. Yoga Dasara subcommittee can discuss and take guidance from MLA SA Ramadass,” he said.
MUDA commissioner PS Kantharaju said that the Food Festival will be held at Scouts and Guides Ground near DC’s office and Lalitha Mahal Palace Ground in the city from September 29 to October 10.
Shivaprakash of SMP Builders handed a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as a donation towards Dasara festivities.
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, District in-charge Secretary Kalpana, Commissioner of Police KT Balakrishna, Superintendent of Police CB Rishyanth, Zilla Panchayat CEO K Jyothi and others were present. (MR/KS)
