CNC seeks protection to Codavas; submits memorandum to Governor, NSA

Madikeri, November 4:- The Codava National Council (CNC) on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, urging them to protect the Codava Tribe and natives of Coorg from the alleged jihadists infiltrating into the region during Tipu jayanti celebrations.

In a press release, the CNC has stated that the council submitted a memorandum to the Governor and chief secretary of Karnataka and also to National Security Adviser through Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu. “In spite of repeated opposition, the state government has decided to go ahead with the celebration of Tipu jayanti. Now, it’s the government’s responsibility to take precautionary measures to protect the lives and honour of Codava Tribe and natives residing in Kodagu,” the release added.

“Certain disgruntled anti-national group with vested interest is behind the Tipu jayanti celebrations. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) should probe the issue,” the press release said. –KK, NGB
