Mysuru, February 13:- Mysuru District Kannada Chaluvaligaarara Sangha held coconut shell protest on Thursday, demanding the implementation of Dr Sarojini Mahishi committee report.
They staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue at the Gandhi Square in the city. Protesters demanded the implementation of Dr Sarojini Mahishi committee report which recommends a major share in the reservation of jobs for Kannadigas in both government and private sectors. The report recommends a certain percentage of jobs for Kannadigas in public sector undertakings (PSUs), private companies and multinational companies.
“The Sarojini Mahishi report which recommends 100 per cent reservation for Kannadigas in all public sector units including 100 per cent reservation for Kannadigas in group ‘C’ and group ‘D’ jobs in the central government departments and PSUs operating in Karnataka, a minimum of 80 per cent and 65 per cent reservation for Kannadigas in Group ‘B’ and Group ‘A’ jobs respectively, in central Government units and PSUs operating in Karnataka must be implemented soon,” they demanded.
Narayana Gowda, Gururaj, Basavanna, Basavaraju, Jayakumar, Dr Raghuram Vajpayee, Kumar and others took part in the protest. (MR\KS).
