A national-level technical paper presentation competition ‘CogNIEscience’ organised by National Institute of Engineering (NIE) was inaugurated recently in the city.
Dr Rupesh Roshan, Chief Tribologist, Klueber Lubrication, inaugurated the competition. Speaking on the occasion, he conveyed the importance of research in cultivating networking skills by attending conferences and thereby attaining the skills to link several streams of Mechanical Engineering to make an assembly work. While doing so, he lauded the facilities available at NIE.
CogNIEscience 2017 attracted about 76 technical papers from engineering students all over Karnataka as well as from neighbouring states. Among these 58 papers were shortlisted for presentation in five distinct streams namely Automotive Engineering, Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Production and Manufacturing Engineering, and Post Graduate stream.
In order to develop the research interest in young minds and to support the Swacchh Bharat mission a special category for first year students with a theme “Innovative Engineering Techniques for Swacchh Bharat” was also introduced. The presentations were evaluated by a panel of jury members drawn from industry and academia.
Dr M V Achutha, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE, and
Coordinators of the event Madhusudhana R and Aruna Mokhamatam took part in the inaugural function.
