Mysuru, January 9:- The state-of-art dialysis centre was inaugurated at Columbia Asia Hospital in the city on Monday.
The new centre boasts 12 individual dialyses ‘stations,’ in a fully air-conditioned area with individual flat-screen televisions, so patients can watch their favourite programmes and use the centre’s free Wi-Fi facility in great comfort. The 70-year-old Fairoza Begum who is undergoing dialysis for the past nine years inaugurated the new facility.
The unit is scientifically designed, boasts spacious treatment areas, finished to a high standard with contemporary fixtures and fittings. Particular attention has been given to the lighting in the unit. The design focuses on maximising natural light.
The Department of Nephrology and Transplantation provides high-quality comprehensive kidney care encompassing hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, outpatient, inpatient care and transplantation to name a few. Columbia Asia Mysore already provides quality dialysis facilities in the hospital and the facilities are split over three different areas. Building on the high-quality care provided in the existing facility and expanding the patient pool, it was necessary to open a new purpose-built unit.
Dr P M Uthappa, chief of Nephrology and Transplant Physician, Columbia Asia Hospital, said: “This is fantastic news for our patients. Patients who require dialysis need lengthy sessions three times per week, so the environment is really important. This dialysis facility is purpose-built, state-of-the-art centre, where people can get the high-quality treatment they need in a safe, clean, bright environment, in a more relaxed, informal and comfortable setting. Sadly, we are seeing an increasing number of people with kidney problems, but centres like this will mean they get the best care possible. Providing a bright, spacious and clean environment has a positive effect on patients’ overall well being and their dialysis treatment.”
Dr Upendra Shenoy, chief Cardiac Surgeon and chief of Medical Services, said “Having all patients in one area helps in monitoring the patients at all times and responding to their needs very quickly. We have zero tolerance for hospital-acquired infections and this facility’s design just makes it easier to maintain our high standards.”
Col Rahul Tiwari, general manager of the Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru, said, “We’ve invested in the latest treatments and technology. Our investment in quality staff also means that patients have access to the best possible and consistent dialysis treatment available.’
