Commercial establishments’ nameplates should be in Kannada: Mysuru Mayor

Prime News, Karnataka, Language, Business, Mysuru, October 23:- It has been noted that many commercial establishments in the city have their nameplates written in other languages and the importance of the Kannada language is on the wane.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Sunanda Palanetra has said that a state government order clearly instructed that 60 percent of the nameplates should be in Kannada and the rest in English.

She said, “Mysuru is known for its culture and history and giving priority and preference to Kannada is our duty. Beginning November 1, as part of Kannada Rajyotsava, all commercial establishments should change the nameplates to Kannada and those who do not have nameplates in Kannada run the risk of losing their trade licences and the display boards dismantled by the city administration.” (AM/SH)
