Mysuru, August 20:- “While we have Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) for distance education, the decision of the government to allow other regular universities to provide distance education is not right,” said the former vice-chancellor of KSOU, Dr NS Ramegowda at a press meet HELD at Mysuru Press Club on Monday.
“The government said that it would allow distance education from regular universities to improve financial status. It will be clear commercialisation of distance education. It will mean that higher education is only for those who have money. The government should step back from such a decision,” he added.
“Using 25-30% of the fee of distance education for ODL and using 75-70% for the regular system is not justification. It will affect the quality of education. The implementation of distance education will also be affected,” Dr Ramegowda said.
He urged to solve the confusions in KSOU and not to repeat the earlier mistakes. (MR/KMR)
