The Sayyaji Rao Road which is now closed for concretisation works will be open for traffic by August first week. The Public Works Department (PWD) which had asked for two-month time for the completion of works has assured that the works would be completed on time.
At a review meeting of various development works convened by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Dr C G Betsurmath and Mayor B L Bhyrappa on Thursday, the civic body authorities apprised the PWD officials of the traffic chaos owing to closing of the busy road.
The authorities were specific on the set deadline for the completion of concretisation of road and said that work should be completed as soon as possible. The PWD has, for now, taken up concretisation works from K R Circle to Visvesvaraya Circle which would later be continued till Bannimantap.
The MCC officials also requested traffic police officials to consider a temporary relaxation of one-way rule on D Devaraj Urs Road and Ashoka Road to ease traffic flow. But Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K N Madaiah ruled out any possibility of making the two roads a two-way citing parking of vehicles on both the sides of the roads.
On concretisation of works on Chamaraja Double Road, Bhyrappa said that the works were completed till the Patshala Circle. The road, he said, would be connected to Hardinge Circle via Gun House and an amount of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned from CM’s special funds. “The works would be completed before Dasara,” he added.

While an amount of Rs 17 crore has been sanctioned for Gun House and Lorry Terminal road works, the Milk Diary and Ring Road works would be taken up at the cost of Rs 30 crore.
