Mysuru, July 11:- With few months remaining for the Lok Sabha elections likely to be held in April or May 2019, lobbying for the Mysuru-Kodagu Constituency ticket has gained momentum.
Former Member of Parliament C H Vijayashankar on Wednesday made a statement saying that he is confident of securing the ticket from the Congress party in the general elections from Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency.
Speaking to media persons, two-time MP from tMysuru Lok Sabha Constituency Vijayashankar said, “I am confident that the Congress will field me from Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency. I had appealed to the party high command earlier and I am confident that the party will consider my request. There is a good environment for the Congress in Mysuru-Kodagu region and not good support for the Janata Dal(Secular). If former chief minister Siddaramaiah is given a ticket to contest Lok Sabha elections, I will abide by the decision of the high command.”
“I am not aspiring to contest from Hassan Lok Sabha Constituency but wish to contest from Mysuru where I have won two elections,” he added.
Vijayashankar was inducted into Congress party prior to state Assembly elections held on May 12.
