Congress counters JD(S), BJP allegations against CM

Countering former Chief Ministers H D Kumaraswamy and Jagadish Shettar’s allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not disclosing about the cases that were registered in 2007 in the affidavit submitted to Election Commission (EC) in 2008 as baseless, Mysore District Congress Committee Media Convener M Lakshmana  clarified by producing the affidavit copy of CM Siddaramaiah filed in 2008, here on Friday.

Producing the documents at a press meet, Lakshmana, pointed out that there is no valid point in HDK and Shettar’s allegations, since CM Siddaramaiah filed the affidavit in appropriate manner. Being an advocate, the CM filed his affidavit by abiding all norms of EC. “Since there is no charge sheet filed against CM Siddaramaiah in all eleven cases that come under various sections of IPC 143, 147, 148, 341, 353, 332, 436, 141, 114, 427, 506, 435, 109, respectively, there is no need for him to disclose details about those cases in the affidavit” Lakshmana claimed.

Kumaraswamy and Shettar are misleading people of the state with the false allegations against the CM, in order to gain political mileage, he alleged.

“However, if opposition party leaders including Kumaraswamy and Shettar genuinely want to take action against the CM, based on their allegations, they could have appealed before the court and not in the EC. The EC has no jurisdiction to take action on these allegations”, Lakshmana clarified.
