Prime News, State, Bengaluru, July 22:- The Congress high command asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to be cautious and exercise restraint on separate state flag issue.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) and in-charge of Karnataka affairs K C Venugopal held a closed door meeting with CM in Bengaluru on Friday and sought clarification on the state separate flag before communicating it to high command in Delhi.
Recently the CM had constituted a committee to examine whether Karnataka can have a separate state flag. The decision of forming a committee came for a criticism from some quarters while pro-Kannada organisation demanding to carve out a separate flag for the state.The Congress high command has advice CM of involving in controversial issues as the Karnataka assembly elections were round the corner.
The CM defending the decision is said to have told AICC in-charge that he did not act in haste instead he has formed a committee to look into the matter and come with the report.
With the Congress high command expressing reservations on the flag after BJP and other parties flagged off the proposal citing one nation one flag policy, it remains to be seen if Siddaramaiah will pursue the flag issue after the panel submits its report to the government.
