Overwhelmed by the support extended by the voters of Nanjangud and Gundlupet in the recent by-polls to both the constituencies, the Congress is planning to organise a thanksgiving convention which will be held at both the places on Wednesday.
Chairman of Mysore Paints and Varnishes, H A Venkatesh, who is also spokesperson for Mysuru City Congress Committee, said preparations were under way for the meet, which will be held at 11 am at Gundlupet and at 4 pm at Nanjangud. The Congress meet is being organised after BJP held a similar event recently, where former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa expressed gratitude to voters for supporting his party. Though the BJP lost the bypolls, Yeddyurappa had thanked voters for increasing the party’s vote share substantially.
The thanksgiving convention in Gundlupet as well as Nanjangud will be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara and a host of ministers and legislators, who had been entrusted with the responsibilities of campaigning during the elections.
