Congress leaders slam BJP govt over coronavirus cases

Mysuru, July 31:- Opposition Congress has all along been criticising the ruling state BJP government that it has failed to control spiralling coronavirus cases. But no one is able to offer the right solution.

On Friday, the Congress MLA from Hunsur, H P Manjunath was at his vitriolic best to criticise the BJP government run by B S Yediyurappa. “These BJP leaders are diabolic in their nature. They have something in their hearts, but utter something else when they speak out.”

Manjunath said, “There is no truth in what the BJP government is saying about money allotted to different departments. The money allotted is only 30-40% of what was supposed to be given. In fact, our leader Siddaramaiah‘s ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme came in handy during the lockdown period because of which lakhs of poor people got food. BJP claims to have offered financial help to auto drivers and many others. It is far from reality. There is no clarity and BJP leaders are escapists. They have spent one year in office without any achievement. They poached MLAs from Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) and made them ministers. There is no leader in BJP who is worth becoming a minister.”

Turning his attention to rising coronavirus cases in Mysuru district, the MLA said, “The situation seems to have gone out of control. The district administration is only busy giving the details on new cases and deaths and nothing else. When the officials are questioned, they say they are helpless. There is a real shortage of ventilators in the district. If the BJP government had constructed hospitals with the money it spends on elections, hundreds of people would have survived. No one from Hunsur has got any financial help from the government as claimed by the ministers. I hope they know Hunsur is part of Karnataka!”

Continuing his tirade against the BJP, Manjunath said, “The party canvasses in constituencies where it can win and not otherwise. The BJP leaders are involved in corruption in the purchase of medical equipment for treating coronavirus.”

Speaking on the occasion, Varuna Constituency MLA Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah said, “In the garb of coronavirus pandemic, the BJP government is trying to pass Acts according to its whims and fancies. Nothing is being discussed in the Assembly. It is trying to pass the APMC Act and Farmland Act in a hurry which would spell a death knell for poor farmers and the likes.”

Dr Yatindra said, “The administration is home-quarantining many of the positive cases which should be treated separately. As a result, there is a spike in the number of cases. The state is writhing in the dictatorial rule.”
