Congress MLAs will not go to BJP: Siddaramaiah

Congress convention begins in Nanjanagud; CM expected to announce special package for the temple town

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday was in a belligerent mood. In reply to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s statement that many Congress MLAs and leaders from North Karnataka are willing to join BJP in large numbers, the Chief Minister said, “Yeddyurappa has been spreading lies throughout his political career and it is not a new thing.”

He was speaking to the media at Mandakalli airport, on his way to Nanjanagud to take part in the Mysuru District Congress convention.

“No leader or MLA of Congress will ever think of going to BJP even in sleep. It is the strategy of BJP to mislead the people with their lies. Our leaders are loyal to the party and won’t be carried away by the drama of the BJP leaders,” he said.

Speaking on the possibilities of V Srinivas Prasad joining the BJP, CM said that Prasad is no more in Congress and we are least bothered whether he joins BJP or some other party. “I don’t want to comment on his political moves,” he added.

“I am not angered by anyone’s statement. I don’t have to learn the lessons of strengthening the party by C M Ibrahim or H Vishwanath. Sunil Bose’s name is not finalised as the candidate for the by-election. Candidate will be finalised only after discussing with the party workers and knowing their opinion,” he said.

Siddaramaiah stressed on the importance of constructing the steel bridge in Bengaluru. “More than 73% of the people have expressed their support for constructing the steel bridge and people will be informed about the bridge through social media,” said CM. Siddaramaiah promised to speak to Goa CM to ensure the safety of Kannadigas in Goa.

The Congress convention scheduled at Nanjanagud is all set to be a platform for Siddaramaiah and Dr H C Mahadevappa to take on veteran Dalit leader Prasad.

Siddaramaiah has taken up the by-election as a question of pride and he is expected to release a special package of Rs 100 crore for the overall development of the Nanjanagud constituency. The Congress leaders have reached Nanjanagud to attend the convention. The convention at the Nanjanagud APMC premises will be inaugurated by Siddaramaiah.

KPCC President and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar, District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, Minsiter for Cooperation Mahadeva Prasad, KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, MP Dhruva Narayan and other Congress leaders are attending the convention.

Marigowda, the close aide of Siddaramaiah who has been expelled by the party also attended the convention and was seen on stage.
