Mysuru, July 6:- Mysuru City and Rural District Congress Committee submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner seeking an investigation into the purchase of medical equipment at a higher price than the market price.
Congress leaders said that there has been a lot of corruption in medical expenditure listed by the government and sought a thorough investigation.
“Though the responsibility of the Health and Family Welfare Department is high, the government claims to have spent Rs 3,322 crore on medical equipment. This is very much higher than the market price. State budget had allotted Rs 10,032 crore for the Health and Family Welfare Department. It was Rs 9,689.40 crore in the revised budget. The department received Rs 1,554 crore in April and Rs 1,768 crore in May. The department has spent Rs 3,322 crore. Head of the department is not giving details regarding the expenditure. When Congress demanded permission to visit quarantine centres, we are denied permission by the Speaker of the Assembly. This further adds to suspicion,” said the Congress leaders. They urged the Governor to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
