The Mysuru District Consumers’ Redressal Forum has imposed fine on Houseful International Ltd, Mysuru, a home decor furnishing company for deficiency of services last week.
A customer, Shwethank had purchased a wooden cot from the company showroom in the city for his ailing father in 2014. However, within one month the planks of the cot broke and his father got injured. It was repaired after repeated requests. Thereafter, in the 10th month, the cot broke again. Though Shwethank approached the showroom for repair, the company neglected his request. Disappointed with this, he approached consumer forum through his counsel, P P Baburaj and appealed for compensation.
The forum, after finding deficiency in the services, ordered the showroom pay Rs .15,200/- to Shwethank towards the face value of the product and repair charges with 18% interest, litigation expenses and compensation, failing which the showroom will have to face legal action.
