Health News, Mysuru, May 9:- The containment zones set up in Mysuru by the district administration to curtail the movement of people barring essential services with the help of police amid the nationwide lockdown to contain spread of Covid-19 has come down to one, raising the hopes of Mysuru district coming under the ‘Orange Zone’ soon.
A total of 12 containment zones was set up in Mysuru, eleven were declared Covid-19 free except Kuvempunagar which is likely to be declared Covid-19 free area on May 14. There should be no coronavirus positive cases reported in 28 days to qualify as Covid-19 free zone.
145 people from other states and one from Mysuru district have been put under quarantine.
A total of 88 confirmed cases were reported from the district of which 83 were discharged, bringing the tally to 5 active cases. The patients are being treated at designated Covid-19 Government Hospital on KRS Road in the city. Two patients 319 and 497 were discharged on Saturday (May 9).
The total number of persons tested till date in the district was 4,907 people. 4,756 persons have completed 14 days isolation, 146 persons have been isolated in facility for 14 days. 4,966 total number of samples were tested; 4,876 samples were found negative and 88 samples were found to be positive.
Of the 88 cases, the bulk of 73 cases are linked to Nanjangud-based pharmaceutical company Jubilant Generics, the others being attributed to Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Delhi event. (NAV)
