Mysuru, December 21:- Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji on Sunday (December 20) opined that students from rural areas should try and overcome inferiority complex to excel in studies and life.
Talking at the function organised to mark Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji’s 105th birth anniversary in Nanjangud, Deshikendra Swamiji said, “He lived his life for the betterment of the society. He was an embodiment of humanity and sympathy. We need to think twice before making a decision.”
After inaugurating the function, retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and chairman of Karnataka Border Areas’ Development Authority, Dr C Somashekar said, “Dr Rajendra Swamiji responded to what people of society wanted. He was a kind-hearted personality and his thoughts should guide us in our future. The present generation should come out of the mobile culture and think of nurturing their future.”
Prof Maleyuru Guruswami said, “Suttur Mutt is known universally. Dr Rajendra Swamiji laid the foundation stone for a better society and I hope Suttur Mutt will reach greater heights.”
Meritorious students of Veerashaiva-Ligayat community were given Pratibha Puraskara on the occasion.
Seers from Mallana Moole, Vatalu, Kunduru, Bettadapura, Harave, Mudigunda, Chunchanahalli, Navliluru, Dandikerre, Ramapura, Madapura and Neelakantaswamy were present. (MR/GK).
