Coronavirus: UoM advises students from China to extend stay

Mysuru, January 31:- The University of Mysore on Friday instructed its students from China who have gone back to their country on holiday not to return to India at least for the time being.

The university has taken this decision amidst the scare of Coronavirus which has caused many casualties in China. As the UoM has more students from China than any other university, this decision has been taken.

“Around 120 students from China are studying in UoM. They are all studying in BTech, MS programming and information technology. Eighteen students among 120 have gone back to China and we have instructed them not to return to India soon,” he said.

Celebration of Chinese New Year is like a festival. The event was held on January 25 and 18 students had gone to China on January 15. They should have already returned to Mysuru, but they have been instructed to stay back due to deadly coronavirus scare.

Already 170 people have died in China due to the virus and 7,700 have been affected by it. A Kerala-based student who had recently returned from China has also tested positive for the virus. (MR/KS)
