Countdown begins for the historical Dasara

Mahadevappa visits Chamundi Hills to oversee works

Preparations are taking place at a rapid phase at Chamundi Hills as the Mysuru Dasara inauguration is just a day away. Renowned poet Nadoja Chennaveera Kanavi will be inaugurating the Dasara festivities at the hills on Saturday. The preparation of stage, dais and other arrangements are taking place ahead of the event.



District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa visited the Chamundi Hills along with Deputy Commissioner D Randeep to review the ongoing works at the hills. He instructed the officials to get all the works done by Friday evening.

As a precautionary note, 15 CCTV cameras have been installed installed at the hills. Police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety of the visitors. Seating arrangements have also been done as there would be a huge number of visitors for the inaugural ceremony of the Dasara.

The temple administration has made the necessary arrangements for the Dasara rituals. The idol of Chamundeshwari, which will be offered pooja and will be placed in the howdah during Jumboo Savari was offered ‘Jalabhisheka’ and other rituals.


Entire Mysuru city is in full swing as the countdown for the Dasara has begun. All the major buildings, circles and streets of Mysuru are decorated with lights and are a treat for the eyes. Even though the officials, including Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of police are new, they have consulted other officials to seek guidance and information. Security has been tightened across the city to ensure no unpleasant activities take place during the 11-day long Naada Habba.
