The advance bail plea of former vice-chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Prof M G Krishnan and six others who are accused of the irregularities in the KSOU was rejected by the court. The third Additional District and Sessions Court rejected the advance bail plea, on Tuesday.
Jayalakshmipuram police had registered an FIR against seven people, UoM Vice Chancellor K S Rangappa, M G Krishnan, Dean T D Devegowda, Deputy Registrar Ramanatham Naidu, Registrar P S Nayak, former registrar B S Vishwanath and Director of IT Kamalesh based on a complaint by KSOU finance officer K Khader Pasha. Chancellor of Universities and Governor Vajubhai Rudhabhai Vala directed the authorities to register the complaint.
The complaint states that Rangappa and Krishnan were involved in irregularities in the purchase of furniture and computers to the KSOU during their term as vice chancellors.
The case has been handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) as directed by the DGP office.
