Covid Care Centre with 600 beds ready outside the city: ST Somashekar

Mysuru, July 11:- District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar visited the newly-prepared Covid Hospital at the new Academic Bhavan of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) at Mandakalli on Saturday and inspected the facilities available.

“The building has 55 rooms. We can have 600 beds. The building has all the basic facilities. Work will be completed in the next two days. Each room has TV cable connection, internet facility through Wi-Fi,” he said while speaking to media.

“A separate section is provided for doctors and medical staff. Indoor games facility will also be provided. We don’t have any scarcity of beds. Two staff nurses and a duty doctor are appointed for every 100 patients,” he said.

“Congress leader Siddaramaiah has alleged corruption in the purchase of medical equipment for treating corona. I request him to come to Vidhana Soudha. We will provide him with all the details. If anyone does corruption in corona issue, they are not human beings. We have spent only Rs 550 crore. Then, how can there be irregularities to the tune of Rs 2000 crore? Siddaramaiah is the leader of the opposition. That’s why he is opposing,” he said.

“Ministers are made in-charge of Bengaluru based on regions. I held a meeting regarding Yeshwanthpur and RR Nagar on Friday. Other ministers too are holding meetings. We will fulfill our responsibilities,” he said.

“Coronavirus cases are more in Narasimharaja constituency in Mysuru. People are not co-operating with us. We are thinking of a mini lockdown in some areas of the constituency. We will discuss with MLA and leaders before taking a decision,” he added.

MLA L Nagendra, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Superintendent of Police CB Rishyanth, Zilla Panchayat CEO Prashanth Kumar Mishra and others were present. (MR\KS).
