Prime News, State, (Chennai), February 19:-Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader D Pandyan on Sunday said that even though they agree that the Supreme Court in its verdict reduced Tamil Nadu share of Cauvery water about 15 TMC (1 TMC equal to 1 thousand million cubic feet), the union government should monitor that the allocated water should be released without any further reduction from Karnataka.
Talking to newsmen at Coimbatore, he said Supreme Court in its verdict said there will not be any further appeal on this Cauvery issue for another 15 years, the prime minister Narendra Modi, who speak about “Digital India” should monitor Karnataka to release Cauvery water without losing a drop of water.
Pandyan said Tamil Nadu economy is depending on the agriculture and over 2.5 lakh acres of land were cultivated paddy crop and need water.
Karnataka should release water immediately to save the crop as well as the Tamil Nadu state economy, he added.
