Crime prevention month: 39 nabbed in 10 raids

Mysuru, December 29:- As part of the ‘crime prevention month,’ Mysuru City Police carried out several raids based on the directive from the Commissioner of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwara Rao and DCP Dr Vikram Amathe here on Saturday.

Krishnaraja Police raided a house at Tavarekatte village, 3rd cross street and arrested Harish, 26, for keeping illegal stock of alcohol at home. The police have seized 100 packets of 90 ml alcohol of various companies worth Rs 3,032. Krishnaraja Police have arrested Raghu, 21, Umesh, 20 and Viji,19 of Ashokapuram based on confirmed information of ganja consumption at the foot of Chamundi Hills on December 25.

Krishnaraja Police have arrested Bhyranayaka, 50, Sheeranayaka, 40, Siddaraju, 28, Mahadeva, 40, Sidda Nayaka, 45, Nagesh, 36, residents of Sagare in H D Kote taluk, who were involved in gambling near a pump house on December 27 and seized betting money of Rs 1,460.

Saraswathipuram Police carried out a raid and arrested Lakshmana, 29, Basavanna, 28 of Janata Nagar, Mahadeva of Sharadadevi Nagar, Pavan, 25 of Jayanagar, Girish, 42 of K G Koppal, who were involved in gambling at a barren land near Mariappana Lake in Gaddige road on December 26.

City Police have arrested 39 people who were involved in various criminal activities and recovered 9 litres of alcohol, 21 gas cylinders and a cash of Rs 25,890.

Dr Rao said that the police operation would continue and requested the people to provide information on such illegal activities to the police control room. He promised to keep informers’ names a secret.(MR/KS)
