National Service Scheme of University of Mysore together with JSS College, Nanjangud, successfully completed the week-long National Integration Camp conducted to mark the centenary celebrations of UoM and seer Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamy in Suttur.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Registrar of University of Mysore C Basavaraju said that such camps help in fostering brotherhood among youth. “Several issues continue to plague Indians even in the 21st century. People seem to be living in fear. We all need to respect and nurture the human values which are deep-rooted in our cultural fabric. The Indian Constitution espouses these values which need to be followed to ensure a free and fair society,” he added.
After distributing prizes to winners of various events, NSS Officer M Rudraiah said: “The Earth has given us everything. All we need to do is protect and nurture it for the generations to come.” He recalled the contribution of various people who sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the society.
Seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamy’s message was read by convener of JSS Institutions G L Tripuranthaka. Also present on the dais were Dr K M Veeraiah, Dr K Kalachenne Gowda, Prof M P Vijayendra Kumar and others.
More than 175 NSS volunteers from various universities across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat took part in the camp.
