It Dispute over land leads to confrontation in Doddegowdana Koppal

A Dalit man and his wife were attacked in their farmland by upper class people over a property dispute in Doddegowdana Koppal recently. Ramashetty, who was injured in the attack, has been admitted to Hunsuru Public Hospital. Ramashetty and his wife Lakshmamma were attacked by one Krishnegowda, his son Devaraja and his associates Chennegowda and Chandregowda. They all hail from Doddegowdana Koppal.

Ramashetty, it is learnt had reportedly leased his four-acre land to Krishnegowda for cultivation. Subsequently, he took back the land after shifting his residence to Kudineeru Muddanahalli three year ago and continued to cultivate his land. Upset over this, Krishnegowda repeatedly objected and urged Ramashetty to allow him to cultivate the land. A police case has been registered in this dispute.
