Dalit organisations demand impartial probe into Bengaluru violence

Mysuru, August 14:- Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike and Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota on Friday (August 14) condemned the Bengaluru mob violence that claimed three lives. Reacting to a Facebook post, a section of the people in K G Halli and D G Halli went on the rampage, attacking journalists, police and many localites. Many houses and cars and two-wheelers bore the brunt of the attack.

The protesters, who were protesting near District Law Courts Complex, said “The attack seems to be a pre-planned one. The attack on MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s house is condemnable. Attack on people and damage to public property is unacceptable. The murderous attack on the police should be dealt with a stern hand. The guilty, no matter who they are, should be punished according to the law.”

The protesters further said, “There should be an impartial probe into the violence and the state government should leave no stone unturned to apprehend the guilty. Karnataka is a peaceful state in the country. It is known for communal harmony. Some miscreants are trying to spoil the peaceful atmosphere. People, on their part, should not pay heed to such rumours but stay calm and composed.”

State president of the vedike K S Shivaramu, Kalakoota president M Chandrashekar, Dalit organisations convener P Raju Nele, Hinnele’s Kr Gopalakrishna, writers N Punith, R K Ravi, Lokesh Kumar, M Mahendra Kaginele, Tyagaraj, Nihal, Dr Somashekar Gowda, C T Acharya, Moogur Nanjundaswam and Sandesh Babu were present during the protest.
