Mysuru, May 16:- “A land of 6.39 acres is available at Gundu Rao Nagar near the foot of Chamundi hills. It is sought for various purposes such as park and police station. But that land belongs to Adi Karnataka community of Scheduled Caste for graveyard. If it is given for any other purpose, we will stage protest,” warned Dalita Welfare Trust at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Wednesday.
“16.38 acres of land was sanctioned for the graveyard in 1969. But several people constructed houses at that land. As they confessed to their mistake, the MCC apologised and said that they cannot be vacated by the court. The remaining 6.39 acres of land is fenced and protected. But still many people including few Dalits are having an eye on that land. There there are several houses surrounding the land and if it cannot be used as graveyard, it should be used for Buddha Vihara. If the land is used for any other purpose, we will intensify our protest and initiate legal action,” he warned.
Legal advisor of the trust Mahesh, Revanna, Guruswamy, Ravish and others were present. (KMR, NGB)
