Damaging statements hurting mayoral tie-up with Cong: MLA Sa Ra Mahesh

Narasimharaja Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait calls on Mahesh, holds discussion in Mysuru

Mysuru, February 17:- Reacting to the mayoral polls of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) shortly, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA from K R Pet, Sa Ra Mahesh, on Wednesday (February 17) said, “A couple of leaders from Congress are issuing damaging statements which are not in good taste. Our party’s relationship with Congress at the national level is fine but not locally. As such, there is a slight confusion regarding mayoral polls.”

He was talking to the media after meeting Congress MLA Tanveer Sait. He said, “We are bound by what was decided by our leaders earlier. As per the understanding, JD(S) is supposed to get three terms while Congress was supposed to get two terms. But the recent statement by Congress leader that JD(S) is not a party at all is only leading to complications. Our party chiefs have said local leaders will take a final call on mayoral polls. There will be a meeting tomorrow (February 18) of the district president and former mayor. We will convey the outcome of the meeting to our senior leaders to make a final decision.”

On his meeting with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa recently, Mahesh said, “It was purely a personal visit and there is no politics in that. I had gone for a marriage when I happened to meet the Chief Minister.” (MR/KS)
