Dasara and Navaratri: Rituals begin at Royal family

YKC Wadiyar greets people on the occasion of Sharan Navaratri and Dasara

Mysuru, October 17:- Titular king of Mysuru, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Saturday (October 17) greeted people on the occasion of Navaratri and Dasara. He said, “I pray to Goddess Chamundeshwari for the well-being of people. Let the coming days usher in prosperity and peace.”

As is the custom, rituals that go with Navaratri have already commenced at the Mysuru Palace. As such, the entry of public and the media has been banned. Only the members of the Royal family will be taking part in the rituals. Yaduveer will be holding private durbar.

On earlier occasions, visitors were allowed to visit the Mysuru Palace but this year, in the backdrop of pandemic situation, the entry has been banned.

The district administration had banned tourists’ visit to some of the important tourists in Mysuru district. Many organisations and travel agents had expressed anguish over the administration’s move. In a welcome move, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has asked the District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar to remove the tourist ban. The decision was taken after a meeting was held on Friday. However, the Covid-19 guidelines continue to be in force.

The Dasara elephants that are going to take part in the puja rituals at the Palace were spruced up for the occasion. (MR/KS)
